Our Story

The Debbie in our namesake is Deborah "Debbie" Downs. You see, Debbie Downs had five daughters (Debbie's Daughters) as well as seven sons. That's right - twelve children! And as these children grew, the family expanded to include many in-laws and grandchildren.

Growing up in their house meant lots of family meals. These large gatherings were a time when everyone could be together, whether they were helping prepare the food, talking with each other, or playing with the cousins in the backyard.

Debbie was an amazing mom and of all the impressions she left on her family before she passed away, one of the strongest was the way she inspired her daughters to become amazing moms, too.

When Jessie, Debbie's oldest daughter, married Rocky, they knew they wanted to be very conscious of the food they chose for their growing family. Where was it grown? How many ingredients does it have? Would it be possible to make it at home using simpler ingredients?

Bread was an early swap. As Jessie gained confidence, she went from using frozen bread dough to baking completely from scratch and using sourdough starter. Now, they enjoy knowing they can bake delicious bread using just four or five ingredients.

That’s not to say you won’t ever find one of us eating a pint of ice cream straight from the container; there’s a time and place for that, too! It’s all about balance.

True to their childhood surrounded by family, all of Debbie's Daughters (and the rest of the family, too) love sharing the joy of family, friends, and food and we are excited to keep expanding our community.

FAQs

Can you explain the preorder thing a little more?

Many of our customers make our bakery items part of their weekly menu planning as well as for holidays and special occasions. While we always welcome guests to come shop our daily selections in the cafe, we also offer the option to preorder and pick up items. The preorder menu doesn’t include every item we bake daily, but always has some staples and a few special items. Pay close attention to each week’s available locations and times because we often have to change them based on various factors - which Farmers Markets we’re participating in, how much we’re able to bake each week, our family’s other scheduled commitments, etc. You’ll be asked to select your exact pickup option during checkout. If you have any questions or need to make changes to your pick-up arrangement, please email us with as much notice as possible.

Do you have a brick and mortar location?

Yes! We spent 2020-2022 renovating the first floor of a 140-year-old building in downtown Noblesville, Indiana. A brand new commercial kitchen occupies half the space and we have room in the front of the house for some casual seating. Come see us soon!

Do you offer shipping?

At this time, we are not shipping any baked goods. While it’s technically possible, the additional time required for packaging and shipping is not sustainable for us.

Do you have any gluten-free options?

Not much at this time. We have a GF Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe we’re very happy with, but that’s about it at the moment. We’re always testing new recipes, so it’s possible that we may introduce more options that are made with gluten-free ingredients. But, it’s important to note that anything we offer will never be certifiably gluten-free due to the presence of gluten throughout our workspace.
